A Rescript is the Catholic Church's “Permission to Publish” Charisms of the Holy Spirit: Tools for the New Evangelization. Until recently, “Permission to Publish” was called Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur: Imprimatur is the official license by the Roman Catholic Church to print an ecclesiastical or religious book, a bishop’s guarantee that something is of a good standard. It is a declaration authorizing the publication of a book. Nihil Obstat is the certification by an official censor of the Roman Catholic Church that a book has been examined and found to contain nothing opposed to faith and morals.
